CHAPTER 02

WHAT IS
ELECTROLYZED REDUCED WATER?

Electrolyzed Reduced Water (ERW) is produced when ordinary tap water passes over titanium-platinum electrode plates carrying an electrical current. This process — electrolysis — restructures the water at the molecular level.

The alkaline stream (cathode side) becomes rich in OH⁻ ions, dissolved molecular hydrogen (H₂), and carries a negative ORP — meaning it donates electrons to your cells rather than stealing them.

The acidic stream (anode side) becomes the pH 2.5 strong acidic water used for sanitizing surfaces — powerful enough to kill bacteria without any chemicals. The machine does not add anything to your water. It restructures it using electricity.

MOLECULAR HYDROGEN:
THE SELECTIVE ANTIOXIDANT

Molecular hydrogen (H₂) is the smallest molecule in existence. It is so small that it can penetrate every cell membrane, cross the blood-brain barrier, and reach the mitochondria — the powerhouse of the cell — directly.

Over 1,000 peer-reviewed studies suggest molecular hydrogen selectively neutralizes only the most harmful free radicals (hydroxyl radicals, •OH) while leaving beneficial reactive oxygen species intact. This selectivity is unique among all known antioxidants.

Vitamin C, glutathione, and other antioxidants are too large to efficiently penetrate cell membranes. Molecular hydrogen goes where they cannot — directly to the source of oxidative damage inside the mitochondria.

AQUAPORINS:
YOUR CELL'S WATER GATES

Aquaporins are protein channels embedded in cell membranes that act as selective water gates. The 2003 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded for their discovery. These channels only allow water molecules of a specific size and structure to pass through.

ERW forms smaller, hexagonally-structured water clusters that pass through aquaporin channels far more efficiently than the large, unstructured clusters found in tap and bottled water.
